I never buy newspapers. I get my news from the Television. At least they're Honest.

I agree with you, Meg. A cheap a nasty bit of stirring if you ask me.

Re: The Queen

Then again I heard this on the radio today and somebody had a giggle that "Oh every child growing up in England did that one time or another", no, uh, that didn't come out the right way...

Re: The Queen

I agree with all the above comments. I would add that in 1933 nobody expected this little girl to become queen. Her uncle, the Prince of Wales, was the heir to the throne. Abdication was until 1936 unheard of in this country.

The timing of this story reminds us that this time is known as the silly season. That means that the papers are keen to make a sensation out of very little. All the other papers have rushed to condemn the Sun while also relishing the thought of extra sales.

Re: The Queen

As kids, our favourite game for a while was "war" - half of us would be gallant British Tommies and the other half, evil German Nazis - "The Hun."
Most of us wanted to be Nazis because, let's face it, when you are acting, an evil part is much more fun than playing the "goodie." The hills around us rang with the treble voices of excited boys declaiming, "Take that you Nazi swine" or "Die Englischer Pig Dog!" - Good job no-one took photos of our "Nazi" past or we would be in the papers too!
