Re: COVID-19: 2,948 new cases on Monday

People in two counties are being asked to wear face masks in work, shops and crowded public spaces* in a bid to avoid another local Covid-19 lockdown.
Residents of Rhondda Cynon Taff and Merthyr Tydfil** have been asked by councils only to use public transport if "essential".
Merthyr Tydfil has the second highest coronavirus case rate in Wales - behind Caerphilly, already in lockdown (see previous post).
* Work and crowded public places, IMO, should always be included.
I see too many people taking masks out of bags/pockets then putting them on before entering a shop - after entering a shop and handling numerous items they exit the shop, take off the mask and return it to their bag/pocket - the process is repeated for the next shop - any infection collected by the mask (from the wearer or otherwise) is spread wherever the hands go .....
Approved advice for wearing a mask includes:
When wearing a face covering you should:
- wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser before putting a face covering on
- avoid taking it off and putting it back on a lot in quick succession (for example, when leaving and entering shops on a high street)
When removing a face covering:
- wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser before removing
- only handle the straps, ties or clips
- wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser once removed
