Re: Any happier?

Pats no one could besmirch me today, I sometimes feel guilty for being happy, not that I'm happy all the time, but most of it. I'm thankfull for the health that I have got, and that I have no money worries, I've got a little terraced house that I love,I've got a big car that I love and I can afford to run, Just about. I've got family and friends that love and like me.Why would my happiness not increase. I'm full of happiness. Oh bluddy ell Ken Dodd's going round in me ead now.

Re: Any happier?

According to a survey reported on the BBC news, "A UK-wide well-being survey has found "small improvements" in people's happiness over the year."
I am very happy and have been since I retired .

Who wouldn't be in my position , I am answerable to no one for the first time in my life, my house is my own, I have enough to eat and I am reasonably fit.

Don't know - I'm just a year older and a year poorer. Nothing has happened to me to make me any happier.
Hmmm - I shall be generous about that report and just quote someone else: 'Lies, damned lies and statistics'; can't trust any of 'em

Re: Any happier?

I'm much happier than last year, hit the bottom with my weight and feeling so ill, now feeling much better. Slightly more worried though about finances, one job ended and the one I am still doing is making people redundant, so very uncertain future.

Re: Any happier?

Meg, I'm in exactly the same position and have been since I "retired" 7 years ago. Since then however, the financial crisis has seen state pension age rise (another government lie), the banks offering a lousy interest rate on my savings and the cost of heating my house has shot up.
The only up side is that I invested in FTSE linked equity bonds at the low point of the market and it's now about 50% higher. My other shares are performing well too, so while that lasts, that makes me a little happier.
