Re: Public loo's

I'm glad that at least somewhere there are still public loos. Here in London yes we do have that scheme, but I can't find many. I think it's disgraceful that far too many are being pulled down, as going to the loo is a normal thing, yet police are keen to fine someone for urinating in the street!! For heavens sake, if there is nowhere else to go, they can't hold it in!

And if it's later in the evening/night, and participating buildings are not open, what is a person supposed to do then? I find London fails completely with public loos and am pleasantly surprised, when travelling elsewhere, that there are usually plenty, and normally free. It's 50p in central London, 30p in stations.

Personally speaking, I need to know there is a toilet wherever I am, and it's usually the first thing I look for. Reckon I need to have all my holidays in Wales then...

I'm thinking of wearing incontinance pants it would save a lot of worry, cos water tablets and lack of loos is a bad combination. No loos near us.

Re: Public loo's

We were always very impressed with the number of loos and the quality in Wales.
Especially enjoyed the one at Brecon ~ by the cattle market

We have only one in our city centre now - it is unisex and it is staffed during the day - closed at night. It costs 60p per visit.

Re: Public loo's

The Island does okay for public toilets but they tend to be around shopping areas (and close at about 7pm!) but out where you need them, the usual beauty spots, not a loo to be found!

As a general rule, I avoid them like the plague but sometimes, when you've gotta go you've gotta go.

Maybe they're trying to go the same way as on the continent whereby cafes provide the facility as long as you buy something from them. It passes on the cost of upkeep to the food outlets and increases their business; not much of a benefit to those in need though.
