This is it Karen, it can happen to the nicest people, and it's very hard to cure it once it takes a grip, a terrible shame really.

Re: Would you gamble on line ?

It is a shame Jem. A few of his colleagues pretty much condemned him for continuing to gamble but an addiction is an addiction - there but for the grace of god and all that ...

Re: Would you gamble on line ?

Jem. I know of one woman who was addicted to gambling. My sister in law. In the end my brother had to take over all of the household finances including general shopping. Even after all the safeguards to stop access to money, she got into debt by using friends and loan sharks. It ruined their marriage and destroyed the family. A terrible thing to see. Like any kind of addiction it is always upper most in their minds and will come first before all else. Very sad.

Wouldn't know how to gamble on line or off. My only indulgence with gambling is an occasional scratch card. Certainly like to have the bit between my teeth don't I

I play Poker on line and have done so since 2010.

My over overall ROI(return on investment) is +14%

I hade two losing years but this year my ROI is around +90%

Think with Poker you have some form of control on the outcome which other forms of Gambling its all down to chance.

I also Play live at a Casino twice a week and am down £250 so far this year.

Re: Would you gamble on line ?

Speaking as someone who was at the bingo hall yesterday at the Mecca in Leeds, I love playing bingo. I also played it online but not as much now as the big clubs have been taken over and the new Companies don't have the LUV they used to do with their players. One example is they now put a lot of their games out to smaller bingo sites. So instead of about 100 people playing a game like in the old days, there are now over 2,000 playing the same game and you don't know them from Adam plus the money is still the same as it was for a 100. So I like going to the clubs and have played around the Country at different ones. I only go to the Mecca or Gala clubs. I have won thousands of pounds at the bingo. I have also spent thousands but am winning still. My best year was a few years ago when I spent £4k on bingo and won £20k that was online and at the clubs.
I don't go as often now as I have to trail on buses and get fed up of the trail. I still have a roof over my head but I do know that gambling can be dangerous but after 40 years of gambling at the bingo I am still comfortable.
Someone mentioned how can you trust the online bingo. If they break any small or large regulation on gambling these companies can be fined enormous amounts of cash or have their licence taken away. So they cannot be untrustworthy. My only case against them now is that the big 3 have lent their information e.g. games to other small not popular or very unknown bingo companies and that has diluted the money you can win.

Re: Would you gamble on line ?

Yes I do play bingo online, although I'm not a particular fan of bingo.
I tend to play when I wake up until 7am, so that might be not at all some days.
It first started with a £5 offer which came in a magazine, I played the 2p a ticket game with that and won some money when I was about half way through that. I then decided to do a £10 top up and got a £20 bonus which gave me £30 to play with, after more wins I decided to withdraw £15 being my stake money plus a bit extra.
Every now and again they give a bonus, and have a free game if you have staked £2 in a week. They also have a voluntary limit you can fix to stop yourself overspending.
I have played it now for 2 years, and my balance stands at nearly £90 at present, with no more of my money being added to the pot.

Re: Would you gamble on line ?

No, I've never gambled, never been in a bingo hall either.

My uncle was a gambler, he lived with us. He always put his bets 'on the nose' until we taught the budgie to say "each way Bob" And that's a true story.
He told me some hair raising tales of houses and businesses all lost on the turn of a card
We used to have a sweepstake at work for the Grand National but that's it for me.

Won't bet on the Grand National. No doubt folk will think I'm silly, but many good horses die or have to be destroyed during that gruelling race, they didn't ask to be raced, and at the end of the day its all about money and the greed of humans again, not for the horses.

I have never gambled, never even bought a lottery ticket - it's a mug's game.
