Re: Sex Matters (A Serious Discussion)

Ok - and here is how my mind works - but is this another dig at how this forum is run and whether it should be a 'free for all' or not? After all what does 'public' mean? 'Public' on the internet is more or less referring to message boards - forums.

No-one in their right mind would discuss sexual practises between themselves and their partner on a public forum; it just wouldn't be safe to do so, but then again it isn't safe to disclose lots of other personal info either.

I agree Mark. Personal MEANS personal! In other words it is something you keep to yourself - private.

I agree there too Stella. If folk want to discuss their sex life there are dedicated sites out there for those who want to use them.

I won't be discussing mine on here.

I've seen that ad too Ania. I'm certainly not prudish, but I don't think that ad is the right way of going about it.

Neither would I discuss mine on here Joy. In fact, I can't even see why Alan even started this discussion in the first place.

Re: Sex Matters (A Serious Discussion)

Well public for me means speaking to anyone but my husband about our sex life, even the GP is a step too far personally. If we can't sort things out together then I would consider our marriage rather heading in the wrong direction.

I think Alan was only saying his thoughts, no harm done surely. We are not obliged to answer are we.

If I had problems, depending on what they were exactly, I would either talk to "an expert" if it were medically related, or if it wasn't, I would probably talk to a trusted friend. Sometimes I think things seem better if you are lucky enough to have that kind of friend and often another opinion helps you see things completely differently. If someone is worried but hubby/wifey refuses to discuss things, its sad to have to worry alone
Having said that, it would depend entirely on the problem.

I should add a P.S. here:

I certainly wouldn't discuss such things on an open forum, or go on Jeremy Kyle!! Now THAT is talking publicly to me, not the same thing as talking to your doctor about a worry at all.
