We stayed with my grandmother for a while..

If there was an imminent thunderstorm..she would pull all electrical plugs out..cover up all mirrors..open the front door and the back door..''to let thunderbolts out''

She was more scary than the storm!!

Mine too. Is it not odd that these same expressions turn up in every area of the country? Well maybe not so much odd as amazing that they have travelled so far afield. Furthermore they appear to have travelled 'intact', with none of the 'Chinese Whisper' effect which seems to occur with most folklore.

It would be interesting to see if these ''fears'' were valid..at the time..

I did actually see a boy struck by lightening when I was a child..He ran under a tree..there was a giant crack and a white out..

When I went over he had smoke coming out of his nose, ears and mouth...

He died instantly..

You're not alone - I too have seena number of people struck and killed by lightning bolts - not nice!!!
