Am I only only one who loves watching the Tour de France I wonder? Watching all the participants cycling through all that wonderful countryside brings back many wonderful memories of happy holidays in France. I must admit I have been a great fan of the TDF for more years than I care to admit to. In fact I came very close to being in it in the late 50s. But I never ever thought of it from the point of view of the expense to the various towns when GB started to have stages here. Yes I agree, it's totally ridiculous wasting all that money for a few hours of fun for a comparatively few people. Any "spare" money should be spent where its needed most.Road repairs for instance.
