Oh Julie, you mean you've come here to Brighton to see the events in Preston Park (within ear shot of my home) and haven't come to see me too????

Re: Tour de whatever !

Am I only only one who loves watching the Tour de France I wonder? Watching all the participants cycling through all that wonderful countryside brings back many wonderful memories of happy holidays in France. The fact it starts off this year in Yorkshire, a county I know well, is an added bonus.

Yes LOL but in my defence I don't think I had met you when I used to attend, haven't been for several years now. Must try to get there in next couple of years Grace would love it I am sure.

What a bunch of miseries. Once in a blue moon they close the road for an event such as this, just enjoy the occasion. You're a long time dead.

Re: Tour de whatever !

I must admit I have been a great fan of the TDF for more years than I care to admit to. In fact I came very close to being in it in the late 50s. But I never ever thought of it from the point of view of the expense to the various towns when GB started to have stages here. Yes I agree, it's totally ridiculous wasting all that money for a few hours of fun for a comparatively few people. Any "spare" money should be spent where its needed most.
Road repairs for instance.

Yes - some are being closed/restricted today for an event that is taking place on Sunday!

That would really annoy me! I always feel sorry for the folk trying to get to work, doctors, hospital appointments etc. when Pilton's on. But, on the other hand I hate being held up by the lycra bum brigade riding 3 or 4 abreast!
Very true !
