To be fair Australia lost far more men later on the western front but the terrible landing at Gallipolli is what we remember on ANZAC Day on 25th April.

If it was 50 years ago then I would have been 12. I remember seeing the funeral over at my friend's house and 2 years later she went out to Australia with her family when we were in our third year of senior school. I went through the 4th without her (but only from Sep to Easter).I always wondered when that funeral took place, as I knew I was old enough to remember it, but my friend was soon on her way to another life.
