SNAP! - My feelings exactly! I'm pretty anti-social after 40 years doing a job where I had to be 100% social the whole time. My only escape was the week I took every year to go off to the mountains on my own and walk/climb alone - paradise! Retirement was a real relief. I love my wife and my family and don't resent any of the time I spend with them or with (a very few) really close friends, but I have to admit I am happiest alone or with my wife.

I use to be like you Nom, go out and about and meet interesting people, i hate the hustle and bustle of daily life, i like countrylife i use to jump on a bus to see how the other half lived. Go to old market towns visit little craft shops and go to old Water Mills etc..
I hardly watch tv even now, if i do it's got to be a documentry on Britain or Wildlife.

Re: Socializing

Its rare that we ever go out of an evening except when on holiday.

I meet up once a year with a group of friends, 6 of us all met when we were working together when we were approx 17 years old.

I go out once a week for a meal with my daughter and also hubby and I go once a week with my brother and S-I-L

That's it really.

Ah, but you hit the nail on the head, Nom. It was unusual circumstances and everyone was removed from their natural habitat. Once the species is alive and kicking once more, I understand they can become quite remote again .

Re: Socializing

I dont go out much at all ,Im quite a homebody and like my own company so it doesnt bother me.
I do go out alone if I want to but wouldnt go to a restaraunt or the cinema alone.
It is nice to go out with a friend now and again to have nice conversation and food too

I do like eccentric people and I love to listen to old men telling stories about the Army and stuff.

Re: Socializing

I socialise with family and that's about it - I just don't really 'do' outings other than that, apart from with the OH, of course..
Happy on my own, too, as others have said.
