Re: Legal Rights for animals

We do have dominion over them .
We do not have to abuse them .

( what's the bible got to do with anything ?)

Re: Legal Rights for animals

I don't support human rights for animals at all but they do need more rights and just to be considered more than property would go a long way to help them. At the moment dog on dog aggression is not a police matter, it should be but as property it never can be.

Cages can be used to keep animals safe, had one dog we had to give cage rest to after an operation and we always crate train them all so if they need if they have a safe space, last nights storms being a classic, both of them made a mad dash at first clap of thunder and we chucked a blanket over their cages to make instant safe place for them until scary bangs had stopped.

That's not quite the same as keeping an intelligent sentient animal like a chimpanzee in a cage for decades.

I wasn't saying it was but if a ban happened it wouldn't just be about one animal we would all suffer. Some animals need cages to be safe, chickens, rabbits etc.

Ban zoos by all means but not cages.

We need zoos to protect endangered species.

Re: Legal Rights for animals

One has to be sensible about these things .
It's cruel to keep a chimp in a cage for decades .
They are aware of their situation and show human traits of depression and despair
(It's cruel IMO to keep a rabbit in a cage too. Rabbits were meant to run about not imprisoned in small hutches
Most humane zoos now keep animals in better conditions they use their breeding programmes to reintroduce rare species to the wild.
