I'm glad about that too, Aysa.
Even if fish are returned to the water, I wonder if having a big hook pierce their mouth and being dragged through the water traumatises them?
Is that possible any fisherman here?

Hi

Dangerous territory here Mups.

People can have very strong views on the subject, personally if I thought it caused them harm, I would stop fishing.

There are those who would stop horse riding, there are those who think keeping dogs is cruel.

I am comfortable with my views.

Yes, I guess that is true. Just wondered though.
I suppose even a fisherman wouldn't really know how a fish felt anyway.

Re: A good days fishing.

There are many ways of lessening the trauma or harm the may be caused.
Angler's now use barbless hooks, landing mats and will even get into the water(as shown)to handle large fish.

A fish is weightless in water so may experience discomfort when lifted.

Re: A good days fishing.

Perhaps I'm a hypocrite Tpin, because I do eat fish.
I don't like it when you see piles of them slung on fishing trawlers though, gasping and dying slowly.
The fresh air to them, must surely be the equivalent of holding us under water in their environment.
Oh well, I think I'd best shut up.
