A shame the tourist office wasn't a little more patient allowing you chance to reflect before giving the prize to someone else.

Completely agree with Meg.
I'd have thought the people would have understood, and offered you ways to check it out before just giving your prize away.
What a shame Barry. Bet you're in the doghouse with Mrs. B, too.

I would have done the same as you too Barry.

Oh dear Barry, what a shame. Understandable though. Look on the bright side, now you don't have to do lots of organising, sorting dogs out, packing, travelling etc just for two nights away.

Re: Ever felt a fool...

Ironically we had decided to go this year as we have relatives there so it really was drat and double drat! No matter though, when I finally recover from the beating (verbal) handed out by better half, I will get onto the internet and book some flights, hey, it's only money who needs good luck anyway...

I think I may call the Tourist Office tomorrow and say that in these times of so many telephone scams, maybe a better way of informing people of such things would be to email initially, asking them to contact so and so in the Belfast Tourist Office, where they may hear something to their advantage. There has to be a better way somehow.
