Re: Engelbert Humperdinck unveils UK's Eurovision song

Meine Gott in Himmel! Is this what the Eurovision has degenerated to? Is that all that Russia can come up with?

Frikkening.

This is supposed to be a song contest, sung by pleasant singers with good music behind them, a happy sound and a possible place in the charts, or am I missing the point?

Like I said, I haven't watched this in years but, having been a semi-professional singer, I think I will watch again. I just think this is incredulous.

Its all political voting anyway so the calibre of the artist and the song will have little or nothing to do with who wins. It used to be a good contest but now its rubbish as far as I am concerned. Would only watch it if nothing else on that night. When is it anyway ?

Re: Engelbert Humperdinck unveils UK's Eurovision song

All I can say is that Englebert's song is better than the Russian Grannies song - I laughed my socks off when I watched the link that Marpaul put up - can they really be serious. I thought that any minute they would jump inside each other like little o.a.p. Russian dolls.

Englebert can still sing and he still has a little of the old charmer about him. I think the song is very Europeanish - I detected bits of Spanish and Greek in there (and we all know what is happening to the Greeks ). I find it impossible to take the Eurovision Song Contest seriously, but I think Englebert could have as good a chance as anybody (if it was a straightforward honest contest). I doubt that I will be watching, but I wish him well - he is a game old rooster.

The Eurovision Song Contest has been going downhill for years. It used to be entertaining but these days there are not many real singers amongst the competing countries.

I'm not surprised Terry Wogan took his leave of it a few years ago ....... it has turned into a farce!

I agree a total farce. I can't believe that they are going to put it on show for all the world to laugh at.

Re: Engelbert Humperdinck unveils UK's Eurovision song

What a beautiful, beautiful song that is and Englebert sings it beautifully as well. Apparently he's the first one on so that should be interesting.

I hope he does well but I don't think we will win, like it's already been said, it's all political these days. I wonder what would happen if Adelle was singing for our country, how interesting that would be .
