Re: The Indigenous Australians

According to my grandfather, a third generation white Australian, the leader of the indigenous Australians was King Billy of the Bindaboos.

Admittedly, he was racist, as a white farmer in so called Aboriginal land would be, but he had a point. Which of the hundreds of warring tribes, speaking probably as many different languages, would you give control of the country to?

In my opinion, Aboriginals are Australians and should have exactly the same rights and obligations as other Australians, regardless of their ethnic heritage.

As advice from someone on the matter, who is a good friend and my accountant, and is a full blood Aborigine, I would venture to say that it is a combination of "do gooder" welfare groups, political parties currying favour and the Aboriginal communities themselves who are, sadly, raised with an ethic of living on welfare.

We need to get away from the "us and them" situation that exists on both sides and focus on just being Australian.

Re: The Indigenous Australians

When Mrs Windsor 'pops her clogs', unless Oz goes Republican in the meantime, will have Charlie the Turd and horsey foisted on us. What a horrid thought!!!

Re: The Indigenous Australians

And whilst we're talking about Oz, isn't the actions of the Police in this article a little 'heavy handed'???

The Indiginous Australians or the aboriginal peoples if one wishes to play semantics .

Indigenous is spelt incorrectly and is not an adjective that is favored by Aboriginal persons currently. You must keep yourself up to date and not risk offending our Aboriginal peoples
