Woke up this morning at 6:20 to clear, blue skies but I'm noticing that it's getting cooler almost daily now and it's only the 2nd week in August. It was 10 degrees C at 6:20.Once or twice last week here in Milton Keynes we had almost the same daytime temperatures as parts of Southern Spain, which is unusual. Normally they are anything from 5 to 9 degrees C warmer there - shade temperatures I mean. One day we were actually warmer here than Lloret de Mar in the Costa Brava!
I check Spain mostly because it became a habit as we went on our holidays there but also we have friends in Southern Spain.
It's currently 20 degrees in Gandia, near Valencia, close to where our friends are and according to my thermometer outside it's 13 degrees here so the difference now is about normal but I remember two years ago when in early August Gandia was 24 degrees at this time of the morning!
Summer's on it's way out I think - the garden's showing me that now - and to top it all we had a reminder to read our gas and electric meters yesterday!

. . . the street half a mile from us is flooded and all the rivers are in spate . . . . good news for salmon fishers methinks . . . the fish will be heading upstream to spawn.
