Re: The Chase

And if you think of human history in terms of 24 hours
Then Christianity has existed for 14 minutes

Everything that we are has been in existence since the beginning, every atom in our bodies.

We cling to the notion that our current shape, our current form is somehow special and significant. I'm sure it isn't. Over the billions of years and beyond we will be constantly disassembled, and then remade into new forms. This is how our planet works, it is how Nature works.

We have been gasses, stars, comets, flora, fauna, animals minerals and vegetables. The universe is one giant Lego set.
Over time, our primary building blocks are pulled apart and then remade into something else.

A constant churning of atoms from one form to another. It will never cease. Thus we should not fear death because what we think of as death is nothing more than the next iteration, the next change, the next form.

We are in this way trapped. Bound by the forces around us, destined to go round and round and round forever.
Recycled, ad-nauseum. To what end . . . who knows?

With all due respect Realist, I think you misunderstood the question.....

We were pondering the question, how long has a complete working human model existed on this planet. The components that were necessary for assembly were around a lot longer, but singularly they bore no resemblance to the finished product, either physically or spiritually.

Granted....all the parts that make up a human being are recycled to some degree and used again. But don't think for one minute that we are aware of this once all life have departed the human body.

We are a sum of all the parts, and all the parts keep the brain alive. The brain being the hard drive of life. They hold the memories that have built up over the years, they interface with the world around, and they provide you with a personality.

Once the brain fails, you are no more and the bacteria that assisted you in life, will consume you now you are dead.....
