Our local farmer (Farmer Spackman or Spackie) was brilliant! He let us use a fallow field to ride our 500cc single cylinder AJS motorbike on. Brilliant fun - although we spent most of our time trying to get it started (the kickstart had a vicious kickback - I've still got scars on my shin) and falling off it. It was so heavy we could barely hold it up (we were about 13/14 at the time) but we loved it! Thanks Spackie - great days!

What about finding the Wild Carrot flowers that have the red flowerette in the middle instead of the black one? Supposedly where Queen Victoria pricked her finger (Queen Anne's Lace). At least I think that's the story.

I use to love collecting insects in jars especially spiders and watching them eat the other insects. Wasn't i a naughty boy?😃

Another thing children did was collect bird eggs i had a great collection it was something we did in those days. Illegal now of cause.

The days gone by-no sewer,kids so poor they had skin problems,a girl gets abused?-who cares? Boys get `touched up` by some perve-probably get a smack for lying.

And that was semi rural Bedfordshire. Yes there were some good memories but it was not all Enid Blyton

"When I was a lad", ...........I think we can all remember things were a lot more relaxed,and safer in our childhood days,we could go off playing for hour's at a time,miles from home,but your Parents would always know you would be back home by teatime!

LOL Doc we used to catch bumble bees from the marigold flowers but we used to let them out after we had watched them getting all buzzed out. Horrible wernt we?

I also used to play with worms and wrap them around my wrists and fingers pretending they were bracelets and rings lol

We also made makeshift things like a slide out of a plank of wood in dads shed ..I slid down it with my friend and we both managed to get splinters in our bums . LOL Yowch!!!! lol
