Whatever the rights and wrongs of the past, it is the situation today which is totally bizarre. When Scargill made his "arrangement" with the union, there were many thousands of miners in the NUM. Today there are about 2000. These 2000 are paying abut £20 each per year (from their union subs) to maintain Arthur's millionaire pad in the Barbican and his second home in Yorkshire. From being a defender of the union, Arthur is now leaching upon it.Re: Aurthur Scargill, the miners' hero.
Way back I had a contract with a company, that company went belly up, but my pension is still paid to me.
