Re: Feb. 14th

No I never did the Valentine flowers thing except to send her a card and take her out for a meal, a few jars and a bit of live music, but as we get older it’s just another day, it’s nice to see the young and in love enjoying the day, it’s really only for them now, we’re happy we had our day and loved it.
I’m looking forward to pancake Tuesday, yeh can't eat flowers, thanks for the reminder Nom.

No cards, flowers or pressies but we do usually go out for a meal. Don't need much excuse for a night out!

Re: Feb. 14th

I thought I was being so clever.. I told my OH I wanted to get married on valentines day because I figured he would never forget..

All those hearts and flowers in the shop displays hint hint... I forgot he was almost allergic to shopping!

Dinner out is twice as expensive as other nights, many places have a standard tomato soup, steak and strawberry pudding on their valentine menu..and of course you get rushed through because everyone wants to eat out on that night.
Flower prices soar and its cold, so romantic picnics or a stroll along the beach are only for the bravest of souls..

This year will be 36 years, and yes we must be brave or daft because we are planning a picnic and a stroll along the sea dike and then the beach..

Nice and cheap!

Sounds romantic Cass, and sometimes it's being brave and daft that keeps the spark alight!

Wow, I am quite surprised by the number of old softies who still celebrate Valentine's Day. I think that's lovely.

Of course it's a bit time consuming having to clear all my cards and flowers away from the front door in order to get out on the 14th, but if I start early, I will get out by lunchtime, and . . hey ho . . it's a cross I have to bear . . .
