I survived thanks Ploppy, but me rose tinted glasses slipped a bit! His job involved travelling from one end of the country to the other and it took me a while to realise he was like a sailor - "one in every port"! I do believe life's experiences shape how we turn out though.
You may find this strange, but although we divorced many, many years ago, we've always stayed friends and he has always help me. In fact, he has always remembered my birthday card every year for the last 50 years - never missed one! He has moved hundreds of miles away now, so I will probably never see him again. The poor man has prostate cancer now, and the silly bugger didn't seek help early enough for it to be curable. It's so very sad.
