Ha ha Absolute self contradictory tosh. Have you actually done the journey?
How did you prove you were Irish or UK?
No id needed just a ticket.
Ahem...clears throat...
Yes, I have done the journey, dozens and dozens of times. Pre Covid I would fly from Belfast to London every few months. I have also flown to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester. We also come over in the car by ferry most years. You can not fly from N.Ireland to GB without photographic ID. Most airlines will insist on a passport, not sure if it is still the case but a few years ago other photo ID was acceptable by some airports and airlines.
Stena line do not require you to have a passport when travelling by ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan (or if they do they have changed the regs since last year) but DFDS did require passports for travel when they did the Belfast to Liverpool route a few years ago, which Stena then took over.
By the way, quite a few times in the last couple of years when I have flown to London from Belfast there have been one or 2 illegals being escorted by guys from a security company. They get seated first and taken off last, and then taken to a holding centre. I got talking to one of the security guys and when I said this was the first time I had seen this happen he said "you would be surprised how many we get".
