I work for a Charity and we are always looking for more volunteers.
We have disabled residents here so there's a huge range of things they could have difficulty with and appreciate help.

Popular ones are volunteers who come in to read to a group.
It could be newspapers, magazines or even fiction and our people do like someone reading to them.

The best thing to do is probably something you have already done, ask.

We get people popping in all the time but one thing we do have to stress is if you are "booked" to do anything for our people, from reading to driving a minibus, please inform us as early as possible if you can't make it.

Often it's things that cannot be rearranged at short notice or even things that a 'no show' incurs a charge, like dentists for example but for me it's letting down our people. stevmk2

Re: Voluntary Work

I used to be a lay visitor to the police stations in our area in the late 90s. We made uninvited visits to the custody suits to check on the welfare of those detained.
