It must be tempting to try and help, but it might be doing more harm than good.
Out of interest I looked up the difference between a chrysalis and a cocoon. This is what it said:
" The
chrysalis is a butterfly pupa, which is a hard case which appears after the caterpillar’s final shedding of its skin. It attaches to a leaf via a silk pad spun by the caterpillar.
A
cocoon is just a constructed silk casing used by moths and certain other types of insects."
So I gather yours is a Moth, do you think?
