Tiffany.

I know what you mean though, I will not harm a spider but every time I go into our shed I put the umbrella up over my head in case one falls down the back of my neck

I am not really frightened of most & I wouldn't harm any either, well, all except one specie that shouldn't be here & has a nasty bite.
I can cope with all sorts but those huge house spiders do freak me out.

Re: Spider-proof sheds

What if that spider you just killed had spent its whole life thinking that you were its room mate?

Did you ever think about that?

Oh no, you only think of yourself.

I am so glad I don't live in Australia, most of your spiders are nasty ones that bite, Bruce. Here we only have one & it shouldn't be here at all. False Widow spider, it's bite wont kill but it makes you very ill for a few weeks.
A pair in our sun lounge, they weren't there for long.

All spiders are venomous even English ones but no one dies from a spider bite.

Re: Spider-proof sheds

Spiders can easily gather in any areas where there are alot of organic waste. Remove standing water and extra light sources since they can easily attract flies which of course are food for the spiders.

Re: Spider-proof sheds

If you have electricity supply to your shed you can get a sonic device that plugs in and scares them away, all summer we used one in our caravan and had no spiders ! Wonder product IMO

6.6 People do in the USA each year and. before 1979, a few did in Australia.
It may be a small number, but it is quite serious if you become one of them!

And what happened in 1979? They developed a spider antivenom for all native species, since then no one dies.

Well maybe not in Australia, perhaps you should send some to the USA.
There are so many venomous things in Australia, perhaps they decided to stop the spiders killing people, so the other creatures would have a chance of killing a few Aussies.
