I'll own up and admit I’m a coward and always do what the wife tells me, besides she has more sense than I have regarding everyday stuff, and it’s vital to give them their way if you want a peaceful life.
A big bonus with doing what they tell you is that if it goes wrong they are at fault, and you can sit back and smile “Well you told me to do it, didn’t yeh?”

I'd have just laughed at her. We were were equals in the relationship and I wouldn't have dreamed of "forbidding" her to do something. She'd have had no chance of telling me I couldn't do something I wanted to do, and vice versa.
