Re: Tanning Beds Or Concerned About Skin Cancer?

I have had three basal cell carcinomas removed in the last 8 years. Probably because I was a sun worshipper up until I was in my 30s and would bake all day. No-one warned us about any danger in those days - it was considered healthy to have a tan.

Re: Tanning Beds Or Concerned About Skin Cancer?

Don't get them confused with skin tags tho.

A tan has an SPF of 3 so your skin tries to protect you a bit but tans are actually damage to the skin as well. I never burn but I still try to stay out of the sun as much as possible.

It's all accumulative from the day you were born. Your skin holds sun radiation & it simply adds up until it can't anymore & that's when a cancer shows up.

Re: Tanning Beds Or Concerned About Skin Cancer?

As a redhead always been jealous of those that tan. I think someone mentioned it before I go white.....pink......red....peel.....white....etc.. ....lol.....use factor 50 plus at all times.
I work for the local council. They sent me out and about to see if any of the local tanning salons would let me use them. Its pretty obvious that they should all say no after asking me various questions. Bless, everyone of them. Sent me packing, telling me under no circumstances should I ever use the tubes. I know how dangerous they are, but it was good to see that they were looking after my health before profits...... H
