I hate spiders but I hate to kill any living creature so I catch them in a glass and relocate them. I just looked at the picture of the False Widow Spider and yes although I live in the North (Yorkshire) I have seen them in my garden.
I am not convinced the story is true. We always have at least one huntsman spider in the house, but I've never seen one big enough to carry a mouse up a fridge.
I have a feeling most of Australia's spiders are nasty ones, but they must have some that are not. Some times the bigger the spider the less dangerous it is, yet a tiny one packs enough venom to kill a human. Weird that!
My friend was bitten this month , don't know which kind of spider , it was outside in the garden , her leg was in a bad way . She said a bulbous body with long spindly legs . Had to have hospital treatment
