I gave up holidaying abroad years ago.

Way too much hassle then, so dread to think how I would retain my temper now.

I always said it was far more relaxing staying at home when taking annual leave

Shud up.. I am going away in 3 weeks time. I am only going to .jersey from London city airport.
I hope it's not as bad as what you lot are saying.
As for paying for dropping off, I'll tell my daughter to drop me by the cab rank and I will walk the 30 yards.

Seriously, whilst Manchester is certainly not my favourite airport, even for domestic flights, smaller ones such as Aberdeen and Glasgow are much nicer and more efficient in my experience.
I'm not sure why, though.

Do they have airports in Wales? Do I need my passport?

Hell, you could run from one end to the other in an hour.

One privately-owned Australian cattle station ("ranch" to our Yank cousins) is considerably larger than Wales !
