Well apparently they were trespassing on private property.
There are some very small minds out there.
Comes to something when you have to guard your rubbish!!!!!

Oh, well, yeah, if it's private property, there may be a problem. But if the bin is out to the street, it's usually a free-for-all.

I think they legged it over a wall.
But it highlighted the idiocy of the situation nicely.

Re: At last.....us next? (Food waste)

Im all for it. One of the reasons shops stopped giving away food at or just past its sell by was the whole scaremongering about them being sued if anyone got a tummy upset.

I worked in a medium sized shop 10 checkouts.. At one point it was throwing away the equivilent value of a small family car each month in food, most of which was still edible..

Our bakery started freezing left over bread and we had it collected twice a week by the salvation army.
Food should not be wasted while people are going hungry.

Re: At last.....us next? (Food waste)

I once worked for one of the main and well known supermarkets. I was quite disgusted, and also saddened by the amount of food that was thrown out
I discussed this with my fellow employees - 'colleagues' - and they felt the same. But they had tried to discuss this with management so many times they just gave up; they had also been warned off mentioning it in future.
