I've been voting all my life, yet I have never made a difference, I'm still subjected to things I do not want to happen.

What good has this mass influx of people done for us, us oldies can't even get in to the doctors/dentists, our schools are jam packed, the boot just gets heavier on your neck.
And if we'd had this sort of spineless moaning 70 years ago, there would be nothing for you to moan about now. Because you'd be doing exactly what the Nazis told you or else!
All it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. Not voting is doing nothing. Voting is the LEAST you can do. Moaning is doing nothing.

I find those that don't vote, moan the loudest after if it is not going their way, you should vote then you have the right to moan.
Go put your cross right through the paper, so it is spoilt and I think they would get the message.

I think the £500 fee if you don't get enough votes puts many off.

Re: General Election

In some ways I'm in the same boat; I'm really not sure who to vote for now.

In May I voted UKIP in both the Council Elections and the Euro / MEP Election for two reasons.

1. I voted UKIP locally as there is now a Labour clique in our parish and I don't like some of the downright lies they're spouting, especially as the Councillor for our parish in now a Muslim. I was trying to prevent them getting too high a majority and in some ways that did work.

2. I seriously think we are better-off leaving the EU as I do not wish to be ruled by United States of Europe so I voted UKIP as they are committed - they say - to getting us out.

I always vote these days because I feel that you cannot complain if you don't take part!! stevmk2

I've been politically active since I was a teenager - I marched with The Committee of 100 and CND to Aldermaston several times in the eartly '60's, I was in Paris in 1968, I was heavily involved in the anti-Vietnam War protests, I was active in anti-nazi politics for many years. During that time I have seen the Labour Party (which I supported - rather half-heartedly) betray the British Working Class on so many occasions and become just another Tory Party. There is no politics in Parliament any more - just paid lickspittles pretending to disagree while furthering the aims of their corporate masters. I would like to see the younger generation wake up and take on the corporate rich, but I don't see any sign of that happening. I did consider standing for our local council, but the corrupt local Labour Party have it all sewn up tight.

Re: General Election

I wont be voting for any of the Con / Dem / Lab currently out there. There is a rumour of a North East Party emerging as non of the above do anything for our area, if it happens i will see what their manifesto says, if not i doubt i will vote.

Re: General Election

People say you should spoil your Ballot Paper as a Protest Vote, but I don't agree at all. If I wanted to use a Protest Vote then I'd vote for the Party least likely to get in. Someone like The Greens or a Peaceful Party....If enough votes went their way then the main Parties would realise they'd better pull their socks up sharpish. Also if by some landslide of Protest Votes, the Greens ect would not be lasting or damaging. Messing up your Ballot Paper is 1- Childish and 2- Pointless........In my humble opinion.

Agree Roxy, its the present incumbents job to try and reengage with the voters. Then we will have a reason to vote for them. The recent flapping by the big 3 after Ukips success was a sight worth seeing, will they take it onboard i doubt it.

Stand by for the usual dirty campaigns first for the Scottish Referendum and next the GE in 2015.
