Re: Decking

We never once have had a problem with the decking around our static, but I have to say my husband put strips of rubber on the steps and we had some sort of rubber matting on the actual decking.
Just for info, the site we were on made decking to order.
Hubby made ours being a joiner then we hired a van to ship it all up to the static.

Our site gave permission and will help unload anything but they don't actually build it.

Just a thought Julie, locally we have a forum called Streetlife and its just for local people and I understand there all over here in the UK, each day I have a look and often everyday is asking does anyone know a painter and decorator/Plumber/Joiner and so on why not see if there is one in your area and you may find someone willing to make a decking for a reasonable price.

Re: Decking

One of my sisters had decking put down, looked lovely but I almost broke my neck on it when it was wet after rain. Don't know if it's still the same or you can treat the wood, but it put me right off ever having it. I'll go with slabs every time..

Re: Decking

Just discovered (not sure if it is just locally or nationwide) but the county council are bringing in rules that all wooden decking is removed from caravan sites, so for us it will have to be the plastic or composite as we don't want to have to take it all down should they change the rules.

Re: Decking

Really?! Never heard of that, wonder if my sister knows - she has it all round her caravan. Fire risk?

Re: Decking

The decking I constructed earlier this year (looking a bit grubby now).
Used an jig saw (essential) and was in no hurry to complete it.

My late Father told me 'measure twice, cut once'.
Not difficult and I didn't break a single fingernail

Re: Decking

Oh Rachel, very good, I don't think I'd know a jigsaw if I saw one! apart from the obvious ones. Was it difficult, how heavy is a jigsaw? I'd like to have a go at laminate and wondering if I'd need a jigsaw..

Jig saws are fairly small and easy to use BUT the instructions are seriously scary !!! and you need to practice a bit.
