Re: Nom

Its a Snow Bunting Art, scarce rather than rare, but might be harder to come across inland. Here is one i photographed in good light at the coast.

Told ya! What a cute bird!
Just discovered this morning there are bluetits nesting in my bird box! Yay! I thought they'd been put off by it being yellow!

Re: Nom

Yes, you were both right! It stated in the article that the Snow Bunting was rare and not usually seen in the Midlands as they prefer the coastal areas when they migrate from the Artic.

Re: Nom

They are a rare breeding species in Britain, 10-100 pairs, and they can occur in numbers in Autumn migration. I once saw 400 + in a field one October a stunning sight as the males are very striking.

Not my photo i must add. link to source image.

Re: Nom

Might add Art ive never seen a Snow bunting in a tree, normally picking seeds from dunes, or coastal car parks. Some are quite approachable as they may never have seen a human before and dont see as a danger.

A Steampunk in a tree would be a sight indeed.

Re: Nom

If I see a cherry picker I'll knick it, that's the only way I'd ever get up in a tree!

Hi Nom!
I have read the article again and it states, the Snow Bunting was spotted in a hedge by the farmer on his farm.
