They were my thoughts too. Never liked him, something didn't ring true.

Re: Paul burrell

His wife must have known he was gay after all these years. Always love reading about Diana. She was such a glowing, positive presence. The time she was alive seemed carefree years before austerity, before the internet, when life was a bit simpler and less hassle. Or maybe I was just 20+ years younger!

Re: Paul burrell

I find it extraordinary in this day and age homosexuality has caused so much adverse comments.

I think the adverse comments are more about him living a public (or private) lie.

Re: Paul burrell

I don't give a rat's about Burrell's sex-life.
Nor do I think that positive or negative posts about Di are relevant.
Just seems to me that the guy is, or has been, a bit of a grub.

Even the infallible Professor Wikki (but with sources) reveals stuff like

" Books produced by Burrell would state that she was very fond of him, and she would describe him as her "rock",
but her mother, Frances Shand Kydd, detested him and believed that he was "just another hanger-on grasping at Diana's celebrity".

" ... in a 2002 case where he was charged with theft related to Diana's possessions.
The trial collapsed after evidence was given that the Queen had spoken with him regarding disputed events, and
a public-interest immunity (PII) certificate was presented by the Crown Prosecution Service on the basis that disclosure of certain information would be harmful to the public interest.
"
Innocent until proven guilty ? Sure.
But clearly, normal process to establish the truth was averted.

" .... Burrell had admitted, on tape, that he had not told "the whole truth" during his appearance at the Diana inquest; he also said he had thrown in a "few red herrings".
Some reports suggested that Burrell could be charged with perjury......
Burrell received much criticism for copying Diana's letters and his integrity was called into question.
The coroner, Lord Justice Scott Baker, said,
"In the end there is an important issue as to the credibility of the witness."

Since then, as Apricot suggested, he has "milked" the whole thing with TV "celebrity" shows, books, interviews and all that.

None of which will keep me awake at night.

Re: Paul burrell

For some, it is worse when their partner goes off with someone of the opposite sex.
l knew a man who was devastated when his wife went off with a woman, he found that harder to accept than if she had gone off with a man.

I know a man who thought the opposite . HIs wife left him for another woman and he accepted that it was her nature. He remained on amicable terms with her and remarried some years later.
