Re: So, Lightning Does Strike Twice

I have just seen this thread Tpin. I'm so sorry for your mum what terrible neglect. You really should make a formal complaint. that level of care is just unacceptable. I hope she is not too upset now and recovers soon.

Re: So, Lightning Does Strike Twice

So sorry for your Mum Terry, how is she today?

Terry, what happened after the 111 call?
Did an amulance come?
Did they take her back to hospital?

I don't know what time this happened, but did you ask to see the Manager or whoever was on night duty?
I can hardly believe no one came to talk to you. I am shocked. I hope you've made a written complaint.
Where is she now, is she still at the care home?

Gosh, you had your son with his broken nose a couple of weeks ago, now your Mum!
You've got your work cut out trying to look after everyone, look after yourself too won't you. x

That is totally unacceptable. Should not have happened under any circumstances.

No one(management)came to see me.

Tomorrow I'm meeting the regional manager.

The complaint has been noted but i'll be doing it "proper" tomorrow.

Yes, she's still there.....I think she'll be ok, now the staff/management will be spoiling her, falling over themselves to make up for it.

As for broken noses, I'm feeling left out....I'll have to go to the gym and workout with the kickboxers

I've just seen this, Terry, and I can tell you that in your position I'd be very angry.

It's disgusting that such a thing should happen and I hope you take them to the cleaners for their lack of proper care.

I'm so sorry this has happened to your poor Mum, Terry

It's shocking and disgraceful that this should happen ..... the bed rails should be raised whenever your Mum was left on her own. I hope the person concerned was seriously reprimanded for this.

I hope she will feel better soon...

Re: So, Lightning Does Strike Twice

Get this folks.......the management are claiming a private care/nursing home is NOT allowed to put cot sides up unless requested by the client or their family(I have told them twice and my mum told them when she arrived)...it's an infringement of a persons freedom...entrapment.

This is what they were telling us...trying to baffle wiyh bu****it.

You should have seen their faces when this frail old lady turned on her legal head.

30+ years as a Barrister just kicked in.
She's one smart cookie and this time they've picked on the wrong one to baffle.

Terry, they might possibly have a point, so be careful.

Have a look at these documents.
If you scroll down to ~Section 2.1 there is quite a bit about using bed rails.
I believe they are supposed to do a risk assessment first.

I've read them and as far as I can see they don't cover my mum.

My mum has no control over her body, no movement from the neck down removes entrapment or restriction of movement as a possible reason and, in fact, reinforces the need for them, along with our wishes to have them means it's an acceptable practice in this case.

The accident's outcome proves the need.

Her lack of mobility also demands 2 people to move her.
