I agree. Of the more recent versions of Windows, my opinions are:

Windows 95 - Earliest I remember
(Windows NT(4) - Never used)
Windows 98 - Didn't notice much difference from 95
(Windows 2000 - Never used)
(Windows ME - Never used)
Windows XP - Best so far
Windows Vista - Absolutely crap
Windows 7 - Improvement on XP - Best of all
Windows 8 - Worse than 7
Windows 10 - Better than 8 but worse than 7

You realise that you can't really disable updates in W10 right?

All you are doing is preventing the updates coming down automatically any time they want. However you DO still have to take the updates, they are compulsory and your system will eventually force you to download and install them. That's the big difference with W10, MS are in control not you.

The W10 roll out was just the initial move to implement a platform that they can control remotely. Once done they will change the OS no end to implement all the "for profit" measures they intend. E.g. app selling platforms, advertising etc.

Well I haven't seen any evidence of this yet and, more to the point, my computer hasn't stopped me working whilst it 'updates'.

How soon can I expect to see these impositions?

Re: Do you get tired of software updates?

I have moaned about this many many times in a Universe far away from here but they are there for a reason, most of them are there to remove vulnerabilities in the operating which will be exploited by hackers or could be anyway if not updated. They are a necessary evil sadly, you do not update at your own peril
