Perhaps they will have the influence and pleasure of a female in their lives like the couples female relations or friends.

For years many children have been brought up by fathers who's wives has died or left, very successfully too

It's not ideal for a child's mother to die. IMHO

(And it's not the controversial view some on the Left might think)
