Re: How are you handling the heat?

I hate this heat. The worst thing is it prevents me from doing things in the garden that I want/need to get done.

Indoors isn't too bad what with using the ceiling fans and keeping the curtains and blinds shut.

The dog is coping ok but obviously I'm not letting her get over heated by venturing out when the sun's at it's hottest. An hour or so sometime between 6.45 and 8am and then around 35-40 minutes at 5pm. The rest of the time she's prostrate under the fans.

I've been like it for a few days now but I feel so tired at night that I can't stay awake to watch TV.

I'm praying for the temperature to fall a few degrees.

How are you handling the heat?

Carol darlin' - invest in the purchase of one of these - I have one (No, not the £200.00 + versions). Fill it up with cold water (I have a 2 Ltr bottle of water in my fridge for the purpose) and add some ice cubes too. The fan blows across the surface of the water tank and cools the air in doing so.

Re: How are you handling the heat?

Today was the only hot day here (25c) - the rest of the time it's been in the high teens or maybe 20. Tomorrow is forecast to be cooler again.

It comes from living on the East Coast.

Re: How are you handling the heat?

I feel the same as Carol & Susan M I like nice warm weather but this weather is too humid & still ,no air to breath. I manage to sleep a little, because I take a couple of codiene for pain, but its not a restful sleep & I wake often, the dog often wants to go out in the middle of the night as hes hot & restless ,then I have trouble getting him back indoors again,I think its due to stay hot for several more days yet, more torment. to come

Re: How are you handling the heat?

When I lived there, I found temperatures in England to be too high for my liking in the Summer. Anything above 25C and I'm just not comfortable, especially days of it.

i find that putting a towel on top of my pillow helps. Much better than pillow case material (whatever is is).

Re: How are you handling the heat?

It's only 15c in Edinburgh with intermittent clouds and sunny spells. In Eastern Scotland we miss out on heatwaves with this sort of weather system. Did get up to 25c yesterday, though.

27° here now, possibly 31° by Sunday.

I heard the roads were melting in Wales!
