Thank you for the post, Muddy. I live in New York State, and was working in our community library when we were attacked. People were dazed, terrified, didn't know if and when another attack would come, nor what any of it meant.
We witnessed the horrifying event over and over for two weeks on TV, there was no normalcy to be had, and no sleep at night. What many outside of NY weren't aware of is a white powder substance was being mailed in envelopes to random people, thinking it was anthrax. Add that to the 9/11 event, and you have a fear of never being safe again.

I'm a very brave person, yet it shook my core. My job was to encourage community members to start living in normal days again, comforting families struck by this disaster, yet I had little faith in "normal" myself.
"Lest We Forget" is a tag for this day, yet most of us will never need that reminder.
