When l first married and we bought a house on a village estate, we were not allowed to put a fence of any sort up at the front.

You can usually tell, if neighbours in semi-detached houses, don’t get on. They don’t share the mowing of the front lawn and part of the shared lawn could be overgrown and the other side immaculate.

Port Sunlight is the same, no bordering fences or boundaries. However, the Lever Hulme Estate maintains all the front gardens and so the village always looks immaculate, and people respect it.

Not exactly a lot of new buildings though is it. New builds are boring, that isn't. It's lovely.
