Did you see the police manhandling Rangers supporters last week as they blatantly flouted covid rules ?

No why not because they are not women

VIGILS were held all over the country without incident !!
that says it all, VIGILS not PROTESTS, What we saw in London
started as a vigil but became a protest when a few mainly young
females started obstructing the police??
From what l saw the vast majority of the crowd were standing
quietly and there were no struggles going on? Only in one specific
area did struggles break out, strangely ,cameras etc happened to
be in those areas? And then the banners came out??
A vigil is supposed to show respect to the deceased ??
Do you think that was achieved ??

Re: Sarah Everard

Have you read any of my posts Donkeyman .
The vigil in London the capital city from where this poor girl was abducted and murdered by a police officier was obviously going to attract more people and stronger feeling .
Nevertheless the police handled it badly and used inappropriate force on women.
Too many witnesses Donkeyman they can’t all be wrong .

The vigil was banned . Nevertheless all those people that night went out breaking lockdown .
Goodness knows how many will regret if if they picked up covid and / or transmit it to family

Re: Sarah Everard

The vigil was not actually banned

Gatherings in public are generally banned but, however the rules recognise there can be reasonable excuses to be outside.
The problem is that the law doesn't specify whether a demonstration on a major issue of public importance - such as this vigil - is one of those excuses or not.
Police officers must enforce the lockdown laws but seem to be selective as to what they do enforce.
They also know that the right to protest is enshrined in the Human Rights Act,
That means they can't just impose a blanket ban on all protests under the coronavirus restrictions - and the judge in Friday's case urged both sides to keep talking.
In the absence of further legal clarity, the police maintained their position that the balance came down in favour of preventing a gathering, rather than allowing an exception to mark a very exceptional and tragic death.
The judges fudged and the police overreacted ,bad decisions .
