Serial numbers

Why do they always put them at the back or underneath so you can't see them when filling out the warranty card?

Trying to survive on four hours sleep today waiting for the heating engineer to arrive. In the event, a false alarm (see "Embarrassing, stupid things" thread). Scuppered my plans for a nice walk and an important visit to the gym.
