I got word today that the Gas & Electric is going up - £14 a month for Gas & £6 for electric per month so thats another £20 a month we have to find Damm weather - its usually off by this time of year

Re: Your weather

Sorry your weather is so bad, I do remember it well. It's been a funny day here today, overcast much of the time but still warm. The forecast gives a chance of rain but it always seems to miss our little area.

That seems a big increase Lynne. So how much do you pay a month for gas if you don't mind me asking. I'm out of touch with gas and wouldn't mind comparing it to oil as I always think that's expensive.

Re: Your weather

I've been turning my gas central heating on every evening on coming from work (approx 4.45 p.m.). My house, for some reason, takes a couple of hours to warm up and I've been sitting here in a full sleeve woolly jumper and a thick cardigan until about an hour ago. Please note time of posting!

I don't know what everybody else does, but last year I switched from E-on to Scottish Power, paying my gas and electricity online by direct debit, monthly.

The last time I looked, I was in a bit of credit, but nothing to shout about.

It's not been especially cold during the day, but the temperature hasn't half been dropping in the evening, hence the CH going on.

We were paying £29.00 a month for gas but were usually in credit so it wasn't too bad & its gone up to £43.00 & Electric was £25.00 again in credit & its gone up to £31.00. We pay by direct debit to British Gas.
It might not be a lot compared to some people's bills but we only live in a two bedroom terrace which has been well insulated

Re: Your weather

Saturday morning and I'm sitting here without c/h on (in fact haven't used heating for at least past week now with my balcony door wide open and the sun streaming across the neighbour's garden. Although not on, c/h room thermostat reads 18oC.

Rosemary darlin' - I too suffer in excessive heat - have chronic Asthma, plus another lung problem too which makes breathing somewhat difficult if the weather is too hot. I have invested in an air-cooler (a fabulous bit of kit) which I wouldn't now be without. Maybe you too should invest in something similar for yourself and your poor doggie.
