Re: In this heat, how do you sleep?

Last night was the first night this year that I slept on top of the bed. I wear boxers to bed in the summer.

Don't worry about them, Bathsheba, they're just a myth.

It's the little men you should be worried about. They're about a foot high, and they run around your room when you turn off the light and get into bed.

They live in the wardrobe!

The trouble is that the old norm of 6 or 7 days a year are turning into 6 or 7 day spells more and more times a year IMHO.

These past few years have definately seen more hot spells, so much so that Mrs Zaphod & I have already agreed upon air conditioning being fitted as a necessity when next we move.
In fact if this carries on I might just get a portable unit soon, and as for the noise: it never bothers us on holiday so provided it's fitted correctly I foresee no difficulty.

For now though we have a supply of quiet usb-powered fans which move the air about just enough to keep things bearable.

In this weather windows open, naked on top of the duvet. Do we have to supply pictures?

I have read that lots of folks keep the windows open.

1. Aren’t you afraid of creepy crawlers and flying insects coming into your bedroom?
2. Do you have mosquitoes in Summer?

Moths can be a problem but only when the lights are on, I've found.

I use sticky backed velcro strips applied to window frames, along with fine mesh net curtains!

Makes really cheap and quick mozzie/insect screens that work like a charm!

Bare-arsed on top of the bed but with a thin sheet close at hand in case it gets to cool during the night. I also have a fan blowing across me body, which turns off after half an hour. With the earbuds of my MP3 player stuck in me lug 'oles, I can't hear the fan.
