Both great species i love to photograph Alan, especially the Grebes who have lovely bonding and courtship behavior.

I am not sure the right name is but we call it a Bob White, it is this color for only a short time in the spring, then turns to a plain brown.



Our Gold Finch, female in front, male behind. In the winter they lose most of the yellow.

I was lucky to find a Drake Blue-winged teal over here a few years back, got the twitchers out in force. Only Bob white i know is a type of Quail, not sure if that is what yours is.
