I didn't say you did mention sympathy it was me who mentioned it, conversations move around on this forum we meander in our own ways.

I understood what you said - what I was emphasizing is that dealing with alcoholics and drug addicts is NOT about sympathy at all - in fact that is the wrong way!

Well apart from anger it's the only emotion I seem to be able to conjure for them. Bit of disappointment too I think mixed in with it.

From other threads on here Julie darlin' I was under the impression you were a quaker, so where is your humanity and compassion to those unfortunate individuals???

I can't go into exactly what my parents put me through here UJ but it was bad, it is disappointment to me I can't get past what happened back then, and as a Quaker I do struggle as many of us do BTW we are not perfect. Most religious people struggle to be good enough and I am no different.
I was lucky though as my Grandparents stepped up and took us on, very special people who didn't let the sexual abuse we had endured affect us too much, I think anyone who is raped at 5 years old will be lucky indeed to be able to forgive and forget.

the treatment of alocholics and drug addicts is one process with many streams - we are now moving into the experienes of damaged families which is an entirely separate process and just as complex
