Where is the sticky tape?
It's actually NOT a joke Emjay, despite some of the derision in this thread.

PC users who had installed Adobe Flash a while ago (and that's most of you if you can see videos or play flash games) had no idea that it came packaged with a number of settings that were pre-set.

One of those settings managed the web cam and it was enabled for a 3rd party company to have permission to use your webcam

Anyone who bothered to check out the settings could readily see the option entitled something like "Allow 3rd party use of webcam". You could simply disable it of course but most people were blissfully unaware that:

a) the setting existed at all and that
b) it had already been enabled and set to allow a specific 3rd party company to use the webcam

As you jokingly say Emjay, the only course of action here is to get hold of a small round sticker, available for pennies from any newsagent, and stick it over the webcam. I've done that on every laptop for years now.

Re: TV Spies

This is what the Adobe Flash settings window used to look like:

Except that it was a different company listed that was able to use the webcam by default.

My copy of Flash player is different from yours.

It says "Ask Me....."

For each application.
