'Basseys' at the ready [/QUOTE]

That would be no problem to them Patsy, all the women are in their forties and some already have the moustache.

Re: Eurovision

Thank goodness, I thought the conversations might have been about... "Waste of money - it should have been better spent on x,y,or z....."

Of course, it's not a song contest - more a variety show. The UK's song might have been OK, but what we need is an ACT!

Oh, the Kenny Everett look-alike. Well, that's what leapt into my mind as soon as I saw that particular contestant.

Thanks for that Tachyon, I was trying to figure out all last night who she reminded me of...Kenny Everett of course, all in the best possible taste.

Re: Eurovision

Made me think of Russell Brand in drag. And apart from the actual "rise like a Phoenix" chorus I could barely make out/understand the words. And what was all his gesturing and shouting about?

Re: Eurovision

Daisymay, I think all the gestering and shouting was about gay rights.
I had no idea either until I saw it on the news the next day.
It was aimed at Russia who have said of course they don't want gays
in their land. Plus if the twins singing for Russia had won then that
means the world of gays would have decended on Russia next year
for the 60th Eurovision.
Or that's what I think its about
I think I got the nationality wrong on my post and said German but
meant to say Austrian. Poor Sue got an Aussie who are not in Europe
and meant Austrian. I think its because we are so shocked they won
with a dresser and beard and their first win since 1966.

Re: Eurovision

Well a bloke in a dress won with a song that was derivitave of a bond movie tune , and the one from the UK was a dirge. Add in politics to the mix a tired concept long past its sell by date.

Re: Eurovision

Gawd - its a night of entertainment - forget the other stuff
Loved the Country and Western song, came 2nd
I picked the winner and the second, mind you, I'm watching it for the 'right' reasons - a song contest
