I was not slagging anybody off, it is just a statement of fact. Britain was desperate for America to join in both the world wars on Britain's side.
In 1956 Britain was likewise begging America to join them and France in opposing Nasser's take over of Suez. America didn't (for various reasons) and look what happened.
It is really sad that Britons are so insecure that anything less than fulsome praise is seen at '
slagging' them off. Such a pity.
