Had an email from the council yesterday telling us how we are doing and that our green bit collections (garden waste) will resume from the first of September....
Oh yes!.....And Doncaster is way below the national average for coronavirus infections with only 3% of the local population being infected....Apparently the national average is 11%....

Since staycation became the option the S West has been full to capacity with visitors, surprisingly infection rates haven't exploded.We're above the national average but real terms case figures are low.https://www.falmouthpacket.co.uk/new...ional-average/

So UK national figures show a 0.4759% infection rate - either the Doncaster figure is horrendous, their maths is appalling or both.
11% of 65million is about 7 million, I doubt even the UK figures for infections are out by that much. I think the council needs to check their sources, if I was you I'd be examining my rates bill very closely.

There was a mad rush when the recycling opened again, but it did not last long.
The problem with Infection rates is the way they are collected and analysed.
They could be, and are now starting to be collected in more detail, down to postcode level, not NHS Trust or County Level.
This is how it used to be before Jeremy Hunt changed things in 2013.
The Shropshire rate is rising, but it is a huge County.
Now we can get back to Postcode level, we can see where to target efforts, individual pubs, workplaces, groups of people.
Once this is done, no need for very expensive lockdowns, just targeted ones.
Much less disruption to the economy and much cheaper and effective.

Hi, my name is Dr Rupert Suckling and I am the Director of Public Health in Doncaster.
Once again I'd like to thank the residents of Doncaster for sticking to the COVID safety measures that are currently in place. Our transmission rate remains below the national average; we're currently at 3.2 per 100,000 people.
(The national average is 11.9 per 100,000 people).
This is obviously good news but as always, we need to ensure we don't get complacent. The virus can spread very quickly so the only way we can keep these figures low is for everyone to stick to the safety measures in place. We need to continue with the basics; keep to physical distancing, wear face coverings where required and regularly washing our hands.
